Frequently Asked Questions
How do i begin fostering?
First, we ask that you complete a foster application – located under the Foster heading above. We will review your application and conduct a home check. We are looking that your home and yard area are safe and that you and your family are ready to take on a foster. We also take this time to go over our foster contract with you and answer any questions you may have. If approved, we’ll reach out when an appropriate dog needs to come into care and then will arrange the dog’s pick up.
How long do I need to foster for?
As we are a foster-based rescue and do not have a physical location where the dogs can go, fosters are asked to commit to the dog until adopted. All dogs are held for a 2 week health quarantine when they arrive in rescue and then they are scheduled for spay / neuter surgery if old enough. Once in recovery, they will go up for adoption which could take a week or months.
How much does it cost to foster?
Fostering doesn’t have to cost you anything. We provide all the food and vetting required. If you’d like to get your foster a toy or two, you’re welcome to, but it isn’t required or expected.
Where do your dogs come from?
We bring in dogs in need, without regard to their intake location or reason. Some come from remote communities up North and have never lived indoors, others are lap dogs who had to be rehomed by their families for various reasons. We do our best to provide as much information as we can when asking for fosters.
How do i adopt one of your dogs?
First step is to complete an adoption application found in the Adoption section above. Once reviewed, you’ll be contacted to arrange a home check. This doesn’t guarantee adoption approval but gives us a better understanding of the right dog for you and your family. Should the home check pass we will arrange for you and your family to meet the dog and decide if you’d like to welcome them into your family.
